JENNY+JARED (wedding)

Saturday, June 5th 2010    Photographed by Chelsea Gray (Rigaud, Qc)

I’ve attempted a few times to describe the June 5th nuptials of Jenny+Jared, but I just couldn’t put into words how crazy their day was…First of all, West Island rugby girls ROCK. I’ve learned this because last year’s Julia+Eric wedding was hands down, the most fun event I had ever photographed and they are mutual pals with these ladies, so I was ready to be dazzled! After a sunny ceremony held outdoors at the very scenic Auberge des Gallant in Rigaud, Quebec, guests sauntered over to the tented cocktail hour for a drink. Nearly 5 minutes into the cocktail, the sky grew dark and we were treated to a very surreal thunderstorm and rain shower… The Auberge was ready for anything, and used generators to keep the power going, as the energetic guests danced and goofed around for the entire evening with games and sing alongs…These people really knew how to party!

What struck me most though, was the overall energy of the entire wedding… The best men acted as the MC’s and they were flawless while the bridesmaids were equally as crafty, and had produced a full faux E-Hollywood story slideshow about the bride.  What can I say, this wedding had all the elements of a perfect wedding: Christie Brinkley hottie bride? (check!), Fresh-faced outdoorsman groom? (check!) Wicked-awesome bridal party? (check!) Crazy-outgoing guests to party with? (check!)

LAURA+MAHMOUD (wedding)

Friday, June 25th, 2010

Sunday, June 20th 2010    Photographed by Chelsea Gray and Elizabeth Delage   (Ile-Bizard, Qc)

First of all, the following post will be narrated by this song. Laura and Mahmoud had been practicing for months to surprise their guests with a choreographed TANGO and it was amazing (!) so this is the song that they used for the big reveal.  Although I haven’t added any photos from their dance, it’s all for a good reason…We’re currently mastering their wedding video and it should knock everyone’s socks off, so I’ll reveal their jaw-dropping dance in due time! I hope you enjoy some of our favourites from their Muslim ceremony…it was our first!

VANESSA+NICK (wedding)

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

Saturday, June 19th 2010    Photographed by Chelsea Gray and Elizabeth Delage    (Vaudreuil-Dorion, Qc)

Saturday started off as a warm and sunny day out at the beautiful Chateau Vaudreuil hotel, as our bride and groom were getting ready in their respective suites…Nick was running around doing secret sound checks at the beautiful waterfront gazebo that was set to be the ceremony site, (as he had planned to surprise his bride with a song as his vows). Meanwhile, the girls were giggling upstairs, watching TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress” and prepping. Suddenly though, the sky swelled into a major downpour and completely soaked the ceremony site. “Not a problem!” I reassured Vanessa: “With rain like that, (your backup plan tent) will be SO ROMANTIC with the rain pounding down…” Except the backup tent was completely flooded! On to plan C, hold the ceremony indoors! So that was the plan, and everything was moved indoors. Nick surprised Vanessa with his song on guitar (as his friends popped up in the audience with bongos) and she looked on adoringly with tears in her eyes…success!

INTRODUCING….BLUSHING BABY STUDIO!

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

Photography by Chelsea Gray

So I was sitting with my boyfriend a couple weeks ago at breakfast when it dawned on me that I would love to start photographing children…I immediately flew home, bought the domain name www.blushingbabystudio.com and within literally minutes I had a list of yummy mummies and new baby daddies who were ready to strut their stuff for me in studio (thank you Facebook!).

Now that I’ve established this very appropriate “sister company” to Blushing Bride Studio, I cannot express just how much fun it has been. I love hanging out with glowing mommies-to-be and their beautiful bellies and blissful new parents who have happily cleaned up baby poop explosions and shooting pee (on several occasions). One of the funniest moments was with my first couple, Andrew and Gen, who were dancing lightly while holding her belly bump…except the music I chose was JAY-Z and the lyrics were totally explicit and not appropriate for this kind of sentimental moment…I must admit though, the look on their faces was priceless! (sorry guys). Check out some shots from the past few weeks:
