MARJORIE AND TONY (engagement session)

Sunday, May 3 2009   photographed by Chelsea Gray

So I traveled up to Ottawa to finally meet Marjorie and Tony, who’d booked with me ages ago over the phone. They looked relieved to see me, as I had previously cancelled their engagement shoot due to the flu. We set out from downtown towards the Rideau canal and took some shots along the waterfront. Tony made it clear early on that he would rather be home eating lunch with their newborn baby, so I knew that I had to work fast! By the end of our shoot we came across the annual tulip festival (which was set up like a big fair), so Tony let me go wild and take the last few shots to quench my photographer’s thirst!

SARAH AND PERRY (engagement session)

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

Saturday, May 9 2009   photographed by Chelsea Gray

When it was time for Perry and Sarah’s engagement shoot, I suggested we switch it up a little and take our shots in the evening…Well tonight it was gently raining, so I wasn’t worried, until we loaded the car and it immediately POURED. No problem, I told them…all’s good in the photographic world. Us photographers LOVE rain, especially when we shoot in Black and White. So we headed for the Old Port of Montreal as the rain pounded harder and harder….Sarah glamorously waltzed up hills and tread through puddles as Perry laughed on. I had my expensive equipment dangling under a medium-sized umbrella and as I was not equipped with an assistant, it proved to be a very difficult task to shoot while keeping everything dry. Let’s just say that we’ll continue our shoot tomorrow in dryer conditions!

SAMANTHA’S BRIDAL SHOWER

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

Saturday, May 2 2009   photographed by Chelsea Gray

Now you might remember Samantha from her beautiful engagement shoot that is listed at the very beginning of my blog…well it was time for her bridal shower, and  I’m always up for a ladies’ luncheon! Samantha brought out her computer so she could SKYPE call her fiancé Ibrahim, who’s currently working in Saudi Arabia. He was able to watch her in action, and say hello to the ladies as they enjoyed the festivities which included a wedding dress design competition with toilet paper. The ladies had only 2 minutes to complete their designs for a prize…it was hilarious!

JEN AND CARLO (engagement session)

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

Sunday, April 26 2009   photographed by Chelsea Gray

Ahh… the power of referrals!

I met Jen and Carlo last August at a wedding I shot at the Fritz Farm in Baie d’Urfé, Québec (see Al and Laurene’s wedding on my website). The wedding was hilarious and romantic at the same time, and luckily for me,  acquired 3 great couples as clients AND a boyfriend! (he asked me to put my camera down for a dance, and well, we’ve been together ever since!).

This shoot took place at the Atwater Market, near my loft. I decided to meet Jen and Carlo despite the possibility of a crazy rainstorm and to our luck the clouds diffused the sun perfectly (a photographer’s dream!).
