Yes, you’ve read it correctly…I photographed a wedding on a Tuesday!
What happens when you live all the way up north in the Arctic and you want to get married amongst your closest family, yet they live all across Canada (from Alberta to Nova Scotia)? You meet them in the middle…..MONTREAL! That was the decision that Jeslyn and Shamus came up with after much thought, and it turned out just perfectly. The ladies assembled at the super-girly Fanny of Westmount salon, while the men stayed back at the hotel to prepare for the big day. The sun was beaming outside (and so was our couple) as they exchanged vows at the St Malachy’s Church. I decided to take everyone inside the greenhouse at the Westmount Library for a portrait session and they finished off the evening at the Queue de Cheval restaurant for some of the best steaks in the city. Thank you all for having me be a part of your special day!

Saturday, February 20th 2010 Photographed by Elizabeth Delage and Chloe Chouinard (Wendake, Quebec)
As I mentioned in our previous post, February 20th was a double-booking for us (which is a particularly rare occurrence, given we’re currently in our low-season: winter!).
Elizabeth and Chloe drove far out to Wendake, Quebec and cozied up immediately amongst the log-cabin ambiance of the Hôtel-Musée Première Nations, nestled on sacred First Nations’ land. Each room overlooked a part of the Akiawenrahk River and guests enjoyed partaking in the outdoor ceremony amidst the wintry, February air. The reception was full of surprises, especially the song and dance number re-mixed by the bride and groom’s friends in an attempt to re-create the musical that the couple attended years ago on one of their first dates…now that’s creative!

Saturday, February 20th 2010 Photos by Chelsea Gray, Paulo Rodrigues, and Neel Mehra (Montreal, Quebec)
Saturday the 20th was a double wedding day for us at the studio…
Elizabeth was out in Quebec city while Neel, Paulo and I were in town shooting Katharine and Patrick’s winter nuptials, which was held at the prestigious Mount Royal Club. Here are a few of my favourite shots from their elegant ceremony and wildly entertaining, karaoke-filled reception. The highlights of the night for us was watching the best man’s animated slideshow about the groom (aka PACKER)…it was easily one of the most well-crafted, hilarious slideshows we’ve ever witnessed at a wedding (and we’ve seen a LOT of slideshows in our time). Another great moment was when the bride’s father broke into “Shake a Tail Feather” onstage as his daughter and friends shook around with their “tail feathers” in the air. The night ended with some good-old slow songs such as Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon”, and I can still see the groom’s parents gazing into each others’ eyes as they danced to that one… It was a beautiful sight!
